We're excited to announce that we're launching, in partnership with comic book artists, our own NFT Comic Art Marketplace. This will allow collectors to be able to purchase one of a kind digital art while directly supporting the work of some amazing artists working in comic books.
Our first auctions, featuring original art by Nuno Pereira previously published in conjunction with Archie Comics, are live right now! This is a historic occasion - as far as we can tell, it’s the first time art containing the popular characters of Archie Comics have been made available for sale as collectible NFTs.

What are NFTs and why do they matter?
NFTs are Non-Fungible-Tokens. You can read more about them here. They run on blockchain technology and allow creators to assign verifiable ownership to digital items. In the gaming world this could mean things like in-game items or skins. It’s evolved into things such as NBA Top Shots collectibles and digital works of art – some of them selling for the equivalent of hundreds of thousands of dollars. These high prices are driven by demand for the amazing works, rarity, and the popularity of crypto currency.
The art world is taking NFTs seriously, and we think that there is a lot of room for comic book art such as original covers and comic pages – and it’s already happening! Recently digital art by popular comic book artist Adam Kubert sold for the equivalent of $25,000 US.
This is revolutionary for comic creators and we are so excited at the potential that exists within the NFT space. Previously creators who were producing their art digitally were unable to sell their original comic art pages and covers in the same way creators working with pencils, ink, and paper have. That's all about to change thanks to the advent of this technology as well as the demand for NFT digital art.
Ongoing Royalties for creators
Additionally, NFTs allow royalties to be set up for the artist that will be paid on each subsequent resale of the work. This additional income stream can help ensure the talented creators working in comics keep creating!
Our role in setting up this marketplace is to provide an easy way for artists to enter this sometimes-complicated space, as well as to provide support and guidance as they activate what could potentially be a rewarding new revenue stream.
