We’ve got some very important updates to share with you regarding our Halloween ComicFest/Free Comic Book Day event this Saturday October 27th at Stadium Comics!

First, we’ve got our Artist Alley Guest List pretty much finalized – it’s going to be HUGE! About 20 different comic creators will be in attendance to sign and sketch for fans – including folks like Ty Templeton, Alex Milne, Adam Gorham, Agnes Garbowska, Spent Pencils, and more! These sketches will be sold on a first come, first served basis; you have to be at the store to pick one up! They will sell for $29.99 each. These particular covers will be limited to 1 per customer, although you are more than welcome to get additional custom blank covers sketched on at our event by any of the artists attending, including Vince!

Free Comic Book Day is a day to celebrate comics as a great literary and visual art form for people of all ages – and now it’s going to have a Halloween twist! SPENT PENCILS – The Greater Toronto area’s largest collective of artists, the Spent Pencils crew is always a fan favourite at Stadium and conventions across North America! Joining us will be VINCE SUNICO, GERARD DE LA COSTA, ALVARO CRUZ, and KEVIN BRIONES

ADAM GORHAM – is the artist of the gritty medieval tale ‘Teuton’ Previously Adam made quite an impression with his graphic novel adaptation of Canadian indie film ‘The Vampire Conspiracy’, and has also contributed to the Western Horror anthology “Horror in the West”.

MARVIN LAW – a fan favourite at Stadium Comics, bring him a Pepsi and he’ll talk to you about the comic industry and wresting for hours on end. Oh, and he’s an awesome comic artist as well!

**HORROR IN THE WEST Book Signing**
“Horror in the West” is a horror anthology featuring eleven stories that combine the mysticism of the Old West with demons, zombies, aliens, and blood-curdling storytelling. PHIL McCLOREY, BRIAN EVINOU, SHANE HERON, and DAN SIMON will be joining us to sign for fans! Adam Gorham and Marvin Law also contributed pinups for this book.

**DEEP SEA Book Launch/Signing**
This Halloween a story will rise from the murky ocean about the depths of human depravity, self loathing, and ingenuity. Writer/Stadium Employee RICKY LIMA and Illustrator DAVID BISHOP (Creator of STRANGER) will be on hand to sign copies of their comic.

**THE BEAR STORIES Signing**
Everyone loves cute cuddly bears right? Well if you aren’t easily offended step on up and pick up a copy of “The Bear Stories”! CGC Signature Series Signing – Tuesday April 3, 2012

As part of our upcoming Avengers vs X-Men Launch Party event on Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012 we are excited to offer the opportunity to get a sketch on a blank “Avengers vs X-Men #1″ comic by one of our attending artists – Alex Milne, Vince Sunico, and Marvin Law, and then have it recognized and graded as an authentic Signature Series book by CGC!

We have a limited number of slots available for this event, so please Contact Us if you are interested and let us know what character you’d like a sketch of, and which artist you’d like to do the sketch. Payment may be required in advance and can be made in-store or using paypal.

The cost is $75. Included in that price is:

  • 1 blank comic book (You can choose from Avengers vs. X-Men #1, or from any other of our in-stock blank covers!)
  • 1 Head Sketch of a character of your choice, by either Alex, Marvin, or Vince (your choice!)
  • A CGC Authorized Witness to verify your sketch.
  • Delivery of  your completed sketch cover to CGC, and back to Stadium.
  • Grading service provided by CGC.

In addition, since Alex Milne will be in attendance, this is a great opportunity to get your issues of IDW’s Transformers books featuring Alex’s artwork signed and recognized as an authentic Signature Series book! The cost for this is $40 and includes:

  • 1 signature from Alex Milne on a comic that you provide
  • A CGC Authorized Witness to verify your signature.

Avengers vs. X-Men Launch Party on Tuesday April 3rd!

We’ll have some comic artists on hand to sketch on blank covers of issue #1, or any other book of your choosing. Along with that we’ll have some giveaways of X-Men Team pins and X-Men team posters – to go along with our decision to support the X-Men during this event!

In addition, there will be exclusive Avengers vs. X-Men #1 variants available, and a BIG SALE!!

Alex has provided not 1, not 2, not 3, but FOUR awesome covers to issue #1 and takes over interior art duties for issue #2 and on!

Here's a sample of what Alex did at our last sketch party!

Our upcoming Blank Cover Comic Sketch Fest on Wednesday July 13th  has now been upgraded to an all day event, with the addition of Transformer’s artist Alex Milne!

Alex will get the ball rolling once the store opens at 10:00 am, and will sketch until 3:00pm. Then Vince Sunico and Marvin Law will be on hand to sketch for our customers from 3:30pm till our 9:00pm closing!

As stated in our previous post,  Captain America #1, Ghost Rider #1, and X-Men Schism #1 are all being released on July 13th with blank cover variants, perfectly designed for these talented artists to sketch on. We’re also having a sale that runs all day:
