I’m taking a little break from editing our 100th episode to say thanks to everyone who came out to our 100th episode of Unboxing Wednesdays on Friday night. It was a great occasion made even greater by the people who were in attendance. Rob, Ricky, and myself all had an awesome time being up on stage and seeing all the support and love in the crowd.

Adam Gorham wrote a very touching piece on his blog today recapping the night, and spoke about us cultivating a community of “comic creators and comic lovers who all want to see each other do well”. That’s been one of our main goals since we took over Stadium five years ago. We’ve always wanted to contribute to the growth of the comics and pop culture community here in Brampton, and to a greater extent the GTA. We wanted to become more than just a couple of guys hawking comic books while trying to make a few bucks. Little did we know that Unboxing Wednesdays would allow us to share that enthusiasm for encouraging the growth of the comics culture and community with the entire world!

There have been lots of people who have questioned the usefulness of our show. We’ve had people in the industry and fellow retailers tell us that it’s a waste of our time and not worth the effort. In life you’re always going to have those people who will try to crap on a good thing you’re trying to do. For us, experiencing all the love and support we have received from our valued friends: customers, artists, writers, and people all over the world who watch our videos, is more than enough to keep us doing what we’re doing – hopefully for another 150, 200, or 500 episodes. If just one person has set foot in a comic shop somewhere in the world because they watched one of our videos, then we know it’s all been worth it!

I want to send out some special thank yous for last night. A bunch of people really came through for us in a pinch.

First thanks to Shaun Hatton for providing us with awesome video games to give away as prizes. Also for buying us a much-needed cable that was crucial to our whole sound video and sound setup that I had forgotten to pick up. Shaun has always been one of our biggest supporters.

Thanks to our friend Shaun Hume for helping us with the setup and take down at the club, and running around to pick up our tripod and tapes for the camera, which I forgot at the store – seeing a theme here? Haha.

Thanks to Anna, for going back to the store to get the comics which we needed to unbox. Yes – I forgot to bring the COMICS!

Thanks to Alice Quinn, Marvin Law, Vince Sunico, Alex Milne, and David Bishop for offering up sweet prizes and giveaways!

Thank you to Clive Felice, for all of his technical help with the production of last night’s video. He’s the unsung hero of Unboxing Wednesdays, truth be told. Without Clive we wouldn’t have a camera, and I wouldn’t have the knowledge of video production needed to pull off Unboxing Wednesdays. Sure he may think “Hal Jordan” is “Al Jordan”, but he’s always been one of our biggest supporters and has provided so much feedback and assistance over the last 2 years.

Thanks to our awesome comic industry friends: The Spent Pencils crew, who share many of the same goals as we do and have been with us since the beginning (I think Aaron’s artist roundtable video from last night is going to be hilarious!), Adam Gorham, Richard and Nancy Zajac (Richard does an awesome ‘Gangnam Style’ dance) Marvin Law, George Chris and Rene from The Bear Stories, David Bishop, Jason Loo, Alice Quinn and her crew from Tdotcomics, and everyone else who has been a part of our events over the last 5 years!

Thanks to our friends all over the world for watching every week. You guys rock.

Now, back to editing episode 100 :)
